Rob Nelson

I am an author, artist, and screenwriter based on the East Coast. I started writing scripts during my teenage years. What began as a hobby quickly turned into a passion for writing, which has stayed with me for over 30 years and counting. I wish I had started my creative career sooner, but like most people, I had to prioritize everyday life and its challenges. Having a regular job, familial responsibilities, and financial obligations pushed my creative aspirations aside.  I finally decided to pursue a career in scriptwriting, believing that it was better to try and possibly fail than to never try at all. I am continuously working to enhance my screenwriting skills and currently possess a collection of over fifteen scripts in my library.

My motivation for writing stems from the joy of creating stories, characters, and worlds that, I hope, will entertain people of all backgrounds, regardless of race, color, or creed. My inspiration comes from the TV shows and movies I enjoyed growing up and continue to enjoy as an adult. I craft scripts in the vein of these films that shaped me during my childhood, adolescence, and now into adulthood. The stories I create are the kind that, as a moviegoer, I would be excited to see after watching a trailer, thinking to myself, "That's a movie I'd love to see." It must capture my interest, draw me in, and hold my attention to the very end. The overarching aim is to entertain the audience, and this drives me to continually evolve as a writer and refine my skills with every script project I conceptualize, develop, and ultimately pen.

I possess a knack for crafting memorable characters and captivating narratives in my scripts. Although I'm based in North Carolina, I've been diligently forging connections with fellow creatives and collaborating with writers across the nation for several years. In March 2023, I commenced a partnership with Dizzy Emu Publishing to release my scripts internationally in both paperback and Kindle editions, now accessible on Amazon.com.

Between July and December 2023, I teamed up with a friend and fellow writer from New Jersey to collaborate on a horror script with a unique take on the zombie genre. I'm always open to collaborating with like-minded individuals to create engaging and entertaining stories and to support other creatives in their pursuits. I believe in continuously improving what I'm good at rather than trying to be great at any particular thing. Currently, I am working with James Young of Dark Horse Productions and Entertainment in Utah as a scriptwriter and editor.

People ask me where I like to write.  The one place where I believe I write most creatively is in a peaceful, serene setting. I do most of my writing at home, in my home office/writing room/game room. Home is truly my sanctuary, where my loving, beautiful wife supports me in my writing.
